Postcard Makes a Comeback

Updated: Feb 26, 2019

The wish to bring back the postcard as a way to share memories with friends and family, combined with digital media, quickly brought companies and people together has inspired a community- based mobile app.

Nilesh Makwana, from Tantra technology, explains how he had the idea to give something back to a city that had offered him great opportunities. But he wanted to develop others as well as developing the iPhone/iPad app. He worked with a young team of volunteers to pool their diverse skills. Their success can be seen in their ability to engage organisations such as the non-for profit Good Samaritan Industries, as well as WorldWide printing solutions Joondalup, Fuji Xerox, Nifnex review and Creative Legal.

This spirit of helping others and building connections between people is infectious.

John Knowles, CEO of Good Samaritan Industries, is proud to be part of a project that will generate jobs for the people with disabilities and allow people to send postcards around the world. “We are very excited to be involved in producing an app that will provide local jobs while giving the community the pleasure of sending postcards to their loved ones around the world.”

The process is made easy by the iPhone/iPad app. People use their own photographs and then, in moments, their personalised digital postcard is sent to be printed and posted by Good Samaritan Industries (www.gsi.org.au). From there, the postcard reaches its destination within a few days, with all proceeds going to Good Samaritan Industries.

The Postcare app launch event will be on Wednesday the 30th October, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The event will take place at:

UnitingCare – City Hall, Queens building level 1, 97 William Street Perth.
